Overview
Entre never sells your personal information and never uses it for advertising. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
This policy covers the Entre mobile app and our website, entre.nyc. "Entre," "we," and "us" mean Entre Technologies, Inc. By using Entre, you agree to the practices described here and in our Terms of Service.
The short version:
- We collect what we need to help you plan meals with people you already know: your account, profile, friends, meetups, and preferences you choose to share.
- Location is collected only when you tap "Use my current location," once, for one meetup. We never track you in the background.
- Your contacts are checked against Entre to find friends, then discarded. We never store your contact list.
- People you invite by link answer without an account. We keep what they share only for that meetup, and we email them only if they ask for the plan.
- We share data only with service providers that run the app, never with advertisers or data brokers.
- You can delete your account and data at any time from Settings.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us, information created when you use the app, and a small amount of technical information collected automatically.
| Category | What it includes | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address and password. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, so no one at Entre can read them | Yes |
| Sign-in records | IP address, device and browser type, and timestamps, recorded by our hosting provider for login sessions and security | Yes (automatic) |
| Profile | Full name, username, account creation date, and a profile photo if you add one | Name and username required |
| Phone number | A phone number you add so friends who have your number can find you. We do not verify it or text it | Optional |
| Saved places | Work address from onboarding, plus addresses you label Home, Office, Gym, or Other, with map coordinates | Optional |
| Food preferences | Favorite cuisines, budget, and dietary restrictions (see below) | Optional |
| Friends | Friend requests you send or receive, their status (pending, accepted, blocked), and dates | Created as you use the app |
| Meetups | Participants, meetup name, date and time, each person's starting location, the calculated midpoint, the restaurant chosen, who chose it, and who accepted | Created as you use the app |
| Surveys | For each meetup: starting location, cuisines, budget, dietary needs, and available time slots | Created as you use the app |
| Notifications | Sender, recipient, type, message text, related meetup, and read status | Created as you use the app |
| Blocks and reports | Who you block and when. Reports you file: who you reported, the reason you chose, any related meetup, and what we did about it | Only if you block or report someone |
| Push token | A device identifier that lets us send notifications to your phone, and whether it is iOS or Android. Deleted when you sign out | Only if you allow notifications |
Dietary restrictions. Restrictions such as halal, kosher, vegetarian, or a food allergy can reveal religious beliefs or health information. Sharing them is always optional. We use them only to suggest restaurants that work for your group, and we never use them for any other purpose or share them outside Entre except with the providers that host our service.
Contacts. If you allow contacts access, the app sends the phone numbers in your contacts to our server to check which belong to Entre users. The server returns the matches and stores nothing. Contact names never leave your phone, unless you choose a contact to invite by link. Then only the name you confirm is saved with that meetup. We never message your contacts. When you invite someone, the text comes from your own phone.
Profile photos. When you choose a profile photo, you pick it in Apple's photo picker, so Entre never gets access to your photo library, only the one photo you choose. The app crops it to a square and shrinks it before uploading. Before it appears on your profile, we send it to Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch, which checks it for nudity and violence. Photos that fail the check are deleted right away and never shown. Google processes the photo only to perform this check. Your photo is not linked to your name when we send it.
Location. If you tap "Use my current location," the app takes a single location reading, converts it to an address on your phone, and saves that address as your starting point for that meetup. We do not collect location in the background and do not keep a location history.
Stored on your phone. Your login session, light or dark theme choice, and whether you have finished onboarding are stored on your device, not on our servers.
Website and waitlist (entre.nyc). If you join our waitlist, we collect your email, optional phone number, your answer to our signup question, your referral code, who referred you, how many people you have referred, the ad campaign that brought you (UTM tags), your city, and unsubscribe details. We count page views using a random visit identifier, the campaign source, and referral code. We do not store your name or IP address with page views. Your browser stores your theme choice and referral code. We do not use advertising pixels, analytics cookies, or session recording on our website.
If someone invited you by link
Entre users can invite people who don't use the app. Those guests get a private link (entre.nyc/join/…) and answer in their browser, without an account. Here is what applies to guests.
- What we collect: the name the person who invited you entered (you can change it), the starting point you choose, your optional cuisines, budget, dietary needs, and free times, whether you're in or can't make it, and your email address only if you ask us to email you the plan. We also record when your link is first opened, so the person who invited you knows you've seen it.
- Who sees it: the people in that meetup see your name, starting point, and answers, the same as for app users. Anyone you forward your link to can see the meetup and answer as you.
- What we never do: guests don't get an Entre account, can't be found in search or added as friends, and are never added to our waitlist or any marketing list. If you give us your email, we use it only for that lunch, and every email has a link to stop them.
- How long we keep it: your starting point, answers, and email address are deleted 90 days after the meetup date, and your link stops working. Your name stays in the meetup history of the person who invited you until they delete their account.
- Deleting it sooner: email sam@entre.nyc with your link and we will delete your information.
Who can see your information in Entre
Most of your information is visible only to you. Meetup details are shared with the people in that meetup so you can plan together.
| Information | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Name, username, profile photo, account creation date | Any signed-in Entre user, so friends can find you |
| Email, phone number, saved places, food preferences | Only you |
| Friend requests and their status | Only the two people involved |
| Meetup details, including each person's starting address, the midpoint, and the restaurant | Everyone in that meetup |
| Your survey answers for a meetup (starting location, cuisines, budget, dietary needs, availability) | Everyone in that meetup |
| Your work address, if no other starting point is given for a meetup | Everyone in that meetup |
| A guest's name, starting point, and answers (people invited by link) | Everyone in that meetup |
| Notifications | Only the recipient |
Before you add a starting address or dietary need to a meetup, keep in mind the other people in that meetup will see it. Notification previews on your lock screen may show friends' names and restaurant names.
A small number of Entre team members with administrator access can view account data when needed to provide support, keep the service secure, or comply with the law.
How we use information
We use your information only to run Entre and keep it safe. Specifically, we use it to:
- Create and secure your account, sign you in, and reset your password
- Help friends find you by name, username, or phone number
- Plan meetups: calculate a fair midpoint, suggest restaurants that fit your group's cuisines, budget, dietary needs, and schedules, and show directions
- Send you notifications and account emails you need, such as invites, confirmations, and password resets
- Run the waitlist and referral program, and send waitlist emails you can unsubscribe from at any time
- Understand which of our marketing campaigns bring people to entre.nyc, using campaign tags rather than tracking tools
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, bots, and security incidents
- Fix problems and improve the app
- Comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Service
We do not sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles. We do not use automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
How we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us run Entre, and only what each one needs. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
| Provider | Purpose | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Hosts our database, login, and server functions | All app data described above, including sign-in records |
| Google (Cloud Vision SafeSearch) | Checks profile photos for nudity and violence before they appear | The profile photo you choose, without your name |
| Google (Places and Maps) | Address autocomplete and restaurant search | Addresses you type (in the app, or on a guest link through our server), meetup midpoint coordinates, and your device's IP address in the app. Not linked to your name |
| Resend | Delivers emails to guests who ask for the plan, and account emails such as sign-up confirmations and password resets | The recipient's email address and the email's contents, such as the restaurant, time, and the inviter's first name |
| Expo, Apple, and Google push services | Deliver notifications to your phone | Your push token and the notification text, which may include friends' names and restaurant names |
| Apple | Converts a location reading into an address on iOS; crash reports for test builds | A single location reading when you tap the location button; crash reports from TestFlight testers |
| Loops | Waitlist and account emails | Waitlist email address, referral code, waitlist position, and referral count |
| Netlify | Hosts entre.nyc | Standard server logs, including visitor IP addresses |
| Apple Maps or Google Maps apps | Directions | The restaurant address, only when you tap Directions |
We may also disclose information:
- When the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena or court order. Where allowed, we will notify you first.
- To protect people, if we believe in good faith it is necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, or harm to someone's safety.
- In a business transfer, if Entre is merged, acquired, or sells its assets. The new owner must honor this policy, and we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
- With your direction, such as when you share a meetup with friends.
What we never do. We never sell your personal information. We never share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use advertising pixels, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics in the app. If we ever change this, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it to run Entre, then delete it on the schedule below.
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, saved places, food preferences, friends | Until you delete your account |
| Meetup starting locations and survey answers | 90 days after the meetup date, then deleted |
| Guest email addresses and invite links | 90 days after the meetup date, then deleted |
| Guest names | Until the person who invited them deletes their account. Guests removed from a meetup are deleted within a day |
| Other meetup details (participants, date, restaurant) | Until you delete your account |
| Notifications | 90 days after they are sent |
| Profile photo | Until you change or remove it, or delete your account. Earlier photos are deleted when you choose a new one, and photos that fail the safety check are deleted immediately |
| Blocks | Until you unblock the person, or either account is deleted |
| Reports | Until the reported account is deleted. If you delete your account, reports you filed stay without your name attached, so we can keep acting on them |
| Banned accounts | Kept so the person cannot rejoin, until we decide the ban is no longer needed |
| Push tokens | Until you sign out or delete your account |
| Sign-in records | As set by our hosting provider for security logs, generally no more than 90 days |
| Waitlist records | 30 days after you unsubscribe, or 12 months after the app launches, whichever comes first |
| Page view counts | Kept in aggregate form; they contain no name or IP address |
When you delete your account, we delete your account, profile, profile photo, saved places, preferences, friend connections, survey answers, notifications, and push tokens within 30 days. Copies in backups are removed within 90 days. Meetups you created, or were the first person invited to, are deleted for everyone in them, including the information of anyone you invited by link. In group meetups you were invited to, you are removed and the meetup continues for the others. We may keep limited information longer if the law requires it or to resolve a dispute or security issue.
Your rights and choices
Every Entre user has these rights, wherever you live:
- Access: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: update your profile and preferences in the app, or ask us to fix anything else
- Deletion: delete your account in Settings, or ask us to delete specific information
- Withdraw consent: turn off notifications or location access in your phone's settings, remove dietary restrictions or saved places at any time, and unsubscribe from waitlist emails using the link in any email
- No discrimination: we will not treat you differently for using these rights
To make a request, email sam@entre.nyc from the email address on your account. If you were invited by link and don't have an account, include your link instead. We will confirm your identity before acting and respond within 30 days. If you live in a state that gives you a right to appeal our decision, reply to our response with "Appeal" and we will review it within the time your state's law requires.
We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We also honor browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. These include encryption in transit, hashed passwords, database access rules that limit each user to their own data, restricted administrator access, and keeping secret keys off user devices. No method of storing or transmitting data is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and any required authorities as the law requires.
Children
Entre is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, email sam@entre.nyc and we will delete it.
Where your information is stored
Entre is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
